Smiling For Profit
by Motty Perel

A review by Peter A Hunter

Motty Perel has written an amazing book that will speak to the accountant and the economist in the same measure as the employee.

Motty takes what he has called the MLU (Mode of Labour Utilisation) and examined its development into what he now calls the Employment Model of Labour Utilisation, in which the employees time is bought from him by the employer.

What Motty suggests is that this model misses the point.
Money is not the profit that the employee needs to gain and therefore this model fails to provide what the employee needs.

Motty explains that above a minimum level we need to gain more than money in exchange for our work and that this is the true profit.

The book is well researched and full of an unassailable logic for those with the uncomfortable feeling that the king is not wearing any trousers.
